The best piece of baby furniture we own...

... an excercise ball. We discovered this accidentally when I sat on one with my fussing baby. Jack has always been a "bouncing baby" as opposed to a rocking baby. So one day when he was fussy, I sat down on the exercise ball at Allison and Kenny's house and started bouncing... only to find that Jack calmed down immediately. (I made Mike go to Kmart on the way home and buy one.) Not only does it work when he's fussy, I sit on it nearly every night with Jack and his pacifier to put him to sleep. My mom was so impressed that she got one for us to use at her house. Need a baby gift idea? I would recommend this- although you definitely want to put a note in explaining. You wouldn't want a new mom to think you were trying to suggest it as a way to get back to her pre-baby body!

I just need to clarify for all those people out there that know me... we purchased the exercise ball to help with labor pains. We heard it was a good way to relieve back pain and was relaxing for mom. But, if you have a C-section like me, you don't need it. I don't think anyone would assume I'd buy a ball to exercise, but I felt like I should throw that out there. I'm glad Jack likes it when he comes over so it can get some use!
