Going Home

DSC08602
The boys and I spent last week in Florida with my family. We had such a good time hanging out with Gigi, Papa and Lala, swimming, and staying up waaaay past our bedtimes.

I always do such a terrible job of taking pictures when I’m at home, because I’m just too busy playing to remember my camera. So, some (mostly) verbal highlights of the trip:

Flying there was an adventure in itself. We got stuck for hours in Memphis when our plane broke down (after we had taxied all the way out to the runway, returned to the gate and sat on the plane for 30 mins.- yes, the boys love it :). The flight was canceled so we were sent to Atlanta, then RAN to catch a plane to Jax. Did I mention I didn’t bring a stroller? Oy. But we got there!charlie plane.bmp

Papa took Jack to the park on Wednesday while Charlie came to the office with me for a bit. Jack was so excited to have a date with Papa!

The boys swam every day we were there, even though I thought the water was FREEZING! They did not care one bit! Jack even learned to swim in the deep in with no (human) help!

Jack wore my old Superman cape almost the whole time. He was very serious about rescuing those of us in danger.DSC08601

The last night we were there we went out to dinner with Lauren and her boyfriend to celebrate her birthday. Charlie and Adi became fast friends. Notice La in the corner trying to stay out of the picture. Nice try sis!DSC08597

We miss you guys already and can’t wait for summer to see you again!

Back in NC

Jack and I are back in NC for Alli's wedding, this time in Raleigh. What's that? That can't be right because we were in Raleigh for Alli's wedding back in April? You know, this post.

Very observant of you! Except, that was Allie's wedding, and this is Alli's wedding. Two different people, separated by an E. There are many similarities to the trip, though, including the fact that I am singing again, and I do indeed have a cold, once again. It must be a Raleigh thing.

Personally, I am loving being in NC for the third time in less than a month. Although Jack has been great on the plane the last few times, I told Mike that after our Thanksgiving trip to FL, I'm putting a moratorium on flying for a while.

This trip has been a lot different, since Jack is now much more active than he was six months ago! We are staying at Allie with an E's townhouse, complete with two full flights of stairs. Jack is in heaven! My mom came up to see us, but came Friday afternoon, while we got here Thursday afternoon. Because she had the pack n' play, we had to get creative for Thursday night and Jack's naps yesterday.

We'll be back tomorrow, but in the meantime, Jack is loving having Gigi here to play with him.

We're Headed to NC!

Jack and I are headed on another adventure! One of my college roommates, Jess, is getting married Saturday, and I'm singing in her wedding. My mom is meeting us in Hickory, so we'll get to visit with family (my grandmother and two uncles) and I'll get to hang out in my old stomping grounds and maybe show Jack off to some old friends and professors. :-) I'm praying our flight is smooth and Jack does well (last month he didn't do so well). I should have some fun pictures on Monday.

The Mountains: Sunday-Tuesday

We left our house on Saturday at 9 am. Luckily, our flight to Atlanta was nonstop, because Jack cried/screamed off and on the whole way there. He had been sick, and we thought he was feeling better, but we were wrong. My parents and sister picked us up, and we drove the 3 hours to Murphy. It was a LONG day!

Because Jack still wasn't feeling great Sunday, we just hung around the cabin, which was beautiful! My mom's sister Angela and our cousin Mae came and joined us for the week. Here's a picture of Mae, Lauren, and Jack. DSC00878

By Monday we could tell he was feeling better, so we planned to rent a boat on Tuesday. And so began Jack's first BIG ADVENTURE of the trip. As you can see, he wasn't too keep on the life jacket he had to wear...

And driving the boat with Papa Jack wasn't his favorite thing, either...

But after a nap on the boat bench, he was feeling much better. We had to build him a fort to keep the sun out of his eyes.DSC00896

After his nap, we put him on a float in the water, which he enjoyed more than this picture shows!

The rest of the day we spent hanging out at the cabin, and Jack slept great after all that action!

Raleigh Pictures

Well, this first picture is the day before we left for Raleigh. Look how big my 5 1/2 month boy is!
Asleep in the beautiful Duke University gardens. Sadly our noses didn't like the pretty flowers very much. Both of us ended up being miserable with allergies.
Since we were so close, Gigi, Jack and I drove over to Hickory to see my grandmother and other family. Here's Jack with his cousin Mike.
Jack is trying so hard to roll onto his tummy. I though he was going to do it here, but no dice. He's very close, though!
