Florida in pictures

Our week in Florida is over, and we had a wonderful time! Here's a mini snapshot of what the week entailed.

Jack couldn't get enough of the pool, where he worked on his pouring skills.

He also took quite an interest in the plants outside.

He and Gigi practiced stacking blocks and counting... then knocking them down.

Jack visited for the beach for the first time (much more on that later)...

and also visited the Ice Cream Truck man for the first time and had his first ice cream sandwich.

He played in Papa's (clean!) gardening gloves,

and finally, chilled out with Teddy Bear after long days of playing.

We were sad to say goodbye to Gigi, Papa and Lala, but thrilled that Gigi will be here in just seven or eight weeks when Charlie is born! I can tell that Jack is especially going to miss his Gigi- he's quite fond of her after getting to spend his whole summer with her. Luckily we got lots of video of the two of them together to tide him over! More later!

When in Florida...

do as Floridians do! Although Jack isn't a Floridian, nor has he ever been, my formerly Floridian blood must have seeped into his system in utero. This kid is quite a fish. We had such a great time in Florida, and I'll have a few posts during this next week to chronicle our visit. For now, some pictures!

Parade of Playhouses

Today we went down to Town Center to enjoy Habitat for Humanity's Parade of Playhouses. It was such a great day. The kids got to run around and play, it was slightly overcast and breezy, and the playhouses were so amazing! It's a good thing we got there after the silent auction was over, or I would have wanted to bid on them! Sorry most of the pictures are of Jack's back. He was definitely too enthralled to pay any attention to me. As a matter of fact, he kept running off to the next house... giving me several heart attacks! He is truly fearless out in public.

And then... I finally gave in and let Jack play in the fountains. He'd been trying to head there all day, so I stripped off his shirt and socks (so he'd have at least that to ride home in) and rolled up his pants, which ended up being completely pointless after he got them sopping wet! As these pictures show, both he and Kennison LOVED it.

9 Month Stats

Jack had his 9 month well check today- no shots! His stats are...

• Weight: 23 lbs. 9 oz. - 90th percentile
• Height: 29 1/2 in.- 90th percentile

He is getting to be such a big boy. Interestingly, his weight is several ounces less than it was a month ago. I guess all that crawling and cruising are helping him slim down! His head is HUGE, in the 95th percentile... not surprising to me since he's in toddler size hats. Here's what we've been up to...

My sister Lauren (better known as Aunt Lala) came home with me for a long weekend. We had a great time, and Jack just loves her. Above are some pictures from lunch at the plaza.

Since our old baby pool blew away (oops!) we got Jack a new one on summer clearance. He liked the squirting water.

We recently borrowed Kennison's push toy. Jack's ok with pushing it... but he's spent more time walking and dragging it behind him than anything. He might just be walking soon!

Below is a video of crawling... Jack's Gigi requested it. He's gotten much faster, but he spends so much time cruising the furniture, walls, mommy, and anything else he can get his hands on, it's hard to catch him crawling anymore!

The Mountains: Friday

One of the cool things about where the cabin was that there were a ton of things to do at a relatively short distance. Friday we drove into Tennessee to a "beach" on a lake. Ok, so it wasn't a real beach, but it was convincing enough. You could walk from the concrete built stairs out into the water, which had a sandy bottom. I even noted that the water was low, so it must be low tide... to which my aunt reminded me that lakes don't have a tide! The view was pretty, too, since the lake is between mountains.
